The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is located at Pasighat in East Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh, in the campus of College of Horticulture and Forestry, which is under Central Agriculture University, Iroisemba, Imphal, Manipur. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has been operational since September 2006 under the administrative control of Dean of College of Horticulture and Forestry, for improving the socio-economic conditions of the farming community of the district.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or Farm Science Centre is the down to earth institute committed to vocational training, transfer of latest technologies, on farm research and thus serving as the lighthouse for overall rural development in the district. The activities of the KVK include technology assessment, refinement and transfer, aiming to bridge the gap between the technology development at the research institution and its adoption at the field level by the farmers through demonstration of technology / products etc. and training of farmer, rural youth and extension personnel.
Mandates of the Kendra:
- Conducting on Farm Testing (OFT) for identifying specific technologies.
- Organizing trainings to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
- Giving short and long-term vocational training to the farmers and rural youth for augmenting productivity and self-employment.
- Carrying out Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) on various crops for generating production data and feed back information.
Infrastructure:
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Siang District came into existence in the year 2006 and thus its infrastructure is in the developing phase. At present, facilities available at host institute i.e. College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat are being used for KVK activities.
KVK East Siang activities at a glance:
The KVK, East Siang District is involved in various multidisciplinary developmental works including training, demonstration of technology and over all knowledge development of the farmers of the district. Development of KVK farm is also in progress.
